Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a difference in performance from brass to nickel?

A: There is no difference in performance. Most pianos come with brass (gold) or nickel (silver) hardware so most people will choose to match what the other hardware on the piano is. The caster cups are made exactly the same way.

Q: I have hard (wood) floors, will these scratch my floor?

A: Sticky backed felt pads are included in the box to protect wood and other hard floors. These should be used on all hard floors and will allow you to slide the piano carefully over smooth floors. The felt pads should not be used on carpeted or other soft floors. There is also a smaller felt circle included that is optional to be placed inside the caster cup to protect it from the caster.

Q: I have a (insert piano here), what size do I need?

A: Most pianos will be fine with regular sized casters, however we cannot guarantee a certain size will work, therefore we have provided instructions on how to properly size your caster cups for your piano. Please follow these instructions:

To check which size you need, take a piece of stiff paper and cut a 1″ wide strip, 8″ long. Bring the ends together to form a circle around the wheel of your piano. If it fits, order the regular size. Otherwise, order the large size. The large size will accommodate casters which will fit inside a paper circle made of a 1″ x 10 ½” strip. If 10 ½” doesn’t make it around, even the large Piattino caster cups will be too small.

Q: How quickly can I get caster cups?

A: Providing they are in stock, we ship USPS Priority Mail, which is typically 2-3 days in the continental USA. We do our best to keep a healthy inventory so we can deliver as soon as possible. If a product is showing as being out of stock, we will have more on the way soon. For an ETA, send us a message.

Q: What is the difference between Brass and Nickel?

A: Brass is the gold color and Nickel is the silver color, there is no other difference.
